How Do We Defend Ourselves Against Evil Spirits? Colossians 2:15 says of Jesus: “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Evil spirits are aware of Jesus’ power, and they know they will be judged by him at God’s appointed time ( Matthew 8:29). Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” The devil is another name for Satan, who leads the evil spirits. 1 Peter 5:8 cautions: “Be alert and of sober mind.
